Slow Cooker French Onion Soup
Ingredients:
- 4 c Onions sliced
- 3 cloves Garlic minced or pressed
- 4 tbsp Butter
- 2 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
- 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1 c Red Wine
- 8 c Beef Broth
- 1 tbsp Fresh Thyme chopped
- .5 tsp Sea Salt
- .25 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- .5 Baguette
- 8 slices Gruyere Cheese sliced
Instructions:
- With slow cooker on high, add onions, garlic, brown sugar, butter, salt, and balsamic. Stir together, cover, and let cook for 60 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch in to coat onion mixture. Add wine, beef broth, thyme, and pepper and stir together.
- Put slower cooker down to low and cook for 6-8 hours.
- Before serving slice baguette into 8 slices. Fill oven proof bowls with soup and add one slice of baguette. Top with a slice of cheese. Set under broiler on low for 2-3 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.
